FAQ : How to import Huawei Health Fitness data into Strava or Garmin Connect

GOTOES recently added a feature where you can import Huawei Health Fitness data (in JSON format) and convert it to GPX/TCX/FIT. In particular, I had a user who wanted to export data from Huawei and import it into Zepp. Since the Zepp platform only accepts FIT files, GOTOES tools were necessary for the conversion. I wrote a simplified Huawei tutorial here (for tech-savvy users), and I also asked the user to write a very detailed tutorial here (with screenshots) for people who are less familiar with tech.

From the Huawei Health Portal, Request Data Export:

Open the Huawei ID Portal.
Go to your profile (Me) and tap "Privacy Settings".
Select "Request Your Data" and choose the "Health app" option.
Follow the prompts to confirm your request. Huawei will send you an email with a download link within a day.

You should receive a ZIP file that includes your health data. You should download it unzip the file.

Once you unzip, you should see a folder called "Motion path detail data & description". Open that folder.
Find a file with a name like motion path detail dataXXXXXXXXXX.json (where XXXXXXXXXX is the epoch date stamp) and drag it into the GOTOES Merge tool.
Choose from one of the several GOTOES export options (GPX, TCX, FIT, or KML). You can also export as CSV if you would like (scroll to the bottom of the page).

You have now converted your Huawei fitness data to a useable format! From GOTOES you can directly export to Strava if you already have an account, or you can export to your desktop and import your Huawei data manually into other platforms like Garmin Connect or Zepp (like I did for the user in this example). This should be the easiest technique for transferring Huawei data with the fewest number of steps.

Detailed Huawei Tutorial

This guide will walk you through the process of exporting your health and activity data from Huawei servers and preparing it so that it can be converted by GOTOES.

Step 1: Accessing Your Huawei ID
First, you need to log into the Huawei ID associated with the account you use to record your activity data.

Visit Huawei ID Portal.
Log in using your account credentials.
If prompted to verify your identity, click Get Code, retrieve the code sent to your email (or other selected method), enter it, and proceed.

Step 2: Requesting Your Data
After logging in:

Go to Privacy Centre > Request Your Data.
A new window will open.
You will need to re-enter your Huawei ID password and verify your identity again (click Get Code, retrieve the code, and proceed).

Step 3: Choosing the Data to Request
In the new dashboard:

On the left side, click Request Your Data.
You will see a list of available data categories.
For this guide, you only need the Health data under the "Huawei Mobile Services" section.
Tick/select the box next to Health.
Scroll down and click Submit.

Step 4: Selecting the File Size Limit and Setting a Password
Next:

Choose a file size limit for your download (larger files may be split into multiple parts).
Set a password for your data package when prompted.
Important: Save this password somewhere safe—you will need it to unzip the files later.
Once done, you will see a confirmation message and receive an email saying your data is being prepared.
It may take up to 7 days to receive the final download link via email.

Step 5: Downloading Your Data
When you receive the second email confirming your data is ready:

Click the provided link before the expiration date mentioned in the email.
Log in to your Huawei ID account again.
Navigate to the Request Your Data tab.
You will now see the option to Download your data copy.

Step 6: Unzipping and Preparing the Data
After downloading:

Locate the downloaded .zip file.
Unzip it using the password you set in Step 4.
Inside the extracted folder, locate the sub-folder named motion path detail data & description.
This folder contains all the necessary .json files for the conversion, which you can upload individually to GOTOES. Those files look like this: "motion path detail dataXXXXXXXXXX.json" (where XXXXXXXXXX is the epoch date stamp).
