How big are the files that you are uploading? If your files are near the total 20Mb limit, it is pushing the capacity of our server.
Possible solutions are:
Possible solutions are:
- Check to see if the file(s) you uploaded was/were not empty/corrupted. This is the most common issue.
- Zip Compress your files before uploading. This will dramatically reduce the size of GPX or TCX files. It will not help with big FIT files, though.
If your FIT file is too big for my tool, upload it to Strava, make it private and then either export what you uploaded from Strava as GPX or use my tool to retrieve directly from Strava (it looks at your 10 most recent activities).
- For TCX and GPX uploads, the tool can handle about Two 10Mb files. That is a lot of heart rate, power, position, and cadence data on a long ride! For FIT files, it can only handle about 500Kb per file. Why? The data is highly compressed in the FIT files, and the tool needs to decompress it to read it. This takes a lot of server power, and often times the page will time-out before it finishes processing multiple large FIT files.
- Try again. This tool is used very heavily now-a-days, putting big calculation loads on the server. If a lot of other people are processing large files at the same time as you, the server may have become overwhelmed with performing big calculations. A big cause for this are people trying to string together really long trips with 1 second recording turned on.
- If you really need some files merged, you can contact me using the Contact Form (Link in upper right hand corner of every page). Just let me know that your files are too big, and I will write you back asking you to zip them up and send as an email attachment.
